  • But her smile here is very well known and documented. Judy cracked up repeatedly, forcing the scene to be reshot a few times. Finally, just before the take seen in this clip, the director walked up to her and slapped her face to get her to refocus and concentrate on her work. Amazingly, he wasn't able to smack the smile off her face, just the laughter, as evidenced by this clip!

  • @mmdillon1 wow, I didn't know that! I have GOT to get more Wizard of Oz stuff... but of course Bert Lahr is so ridiculous in this scene, I don't blame her.

  • @mmdillon1 I think that Fleming was an SOB.

  • haha :D

but seriously i think i had smiled too if i was she in this scene xD

  • Judy just got a Giggle so badly and cause Bert Lahr is ridiculous in this scene we dont have to blame her

  • @ferociousgumby I love that scene. There is never a time when I don't have tears rolling down my face.

  • @LovedbyKenubus She was 16-17 years old.

  • Cool. I love her smile in this. Reminds me of someone can't think who.

  • Ever notice when she's saying goodbye to them, the Scarecrow has real tears in his eyes? No one could fake that! It's the most touching scene in the whole movie.

  • Judy is wonderful fun and sweet... hahahahahaha I love her!

  • how old was she when she made this movie...she was still young and there where no child labor laws back then so they worked her to the bone..giving her pills to stay awake and pills to sleep..at least thats what I've heard..

  • much ado about nothing, what i need tosee are the scenes where Judy forgot to wear her red shoes during filming and they now use horriable glitering sparks on the shoes.
