  • i know this video was made a year ago...over a year ago but i'm going through your videos now...and MY COLLEGE ( Emory ) did the exact same thing to me. No one on campus was "qualified" enough to see me other than my psych who didn't do psychotherapy so trying to find a therapist was a PAIN bc like you said- the counseling on campus is FREE and i did not want to tell my parents...but I eventually had to....

also- I know someone ( my best friend ) who is at the ERC right now

    xoxo

  • Hey. I made you a video response but I don't think it attached. Just look on my page to see it.

  • I had the same thing happen to me. I think they just don't want the liability. Like if they pass you off to someone else then, if by chance something happens to the ed patient that it will be someone elses responsibility and liability. It sucks, School insurance sucks too! Mine won't even cover things related to eds. But on the upside, if your ed gets bad they won't really know about it so they can't kick you out like they did me. Yes! They can do that! it sucks!

  • Also, it is so frustrating because other students get to receive counseling for free and people with EDs are denied services on campus?! Eating disorders are common on college campuses-university officials are failing badly here. If they deny us treatment on campus I think they should pay what it costs to be seen off-campus. I mean our student fees cover the counseling center among other things!! Seriously.

  • My university did the exact same thing! I went in for the intake and they told me to call back the following week to see who my assigned therapist was. When I called back they told me that they don't see "long-term" cases. I knew for a fact that this was a lie so I went to the Chief of Medicine & he called them. They lied b/c they didn't have the balls to admit that they didn't have an ED specialist on staff. I am now seeing a T off campus. She is the BEST I've ever had IP or OP.

  • wow...I hate that schools do that! Ive heard of several schools that do the same thing. I say if they won't assist you then THEY should pay for alternative therapy!

Please don't give up hun :-)

Keep fighting for treatment hun I can tell that you really want help and it stinks that the process is so difficult.

Always here for ya - Joy -

  • Im so sorry to hear your having a hard time hun Im also sorry your having a hard time with your ED I have an ED also so I know how it feels and how annoying and stressful it can be, when everything comes at you all at once.. Just try to relax and take one day at a time and just focus on that day GL hun!
