A Tour of the Jade Street

My students and I, while on a tour of the Yau Ma Tei district, stumbled upon dozens of jewelry shops lining both sides of Canton Road. That all of these stores were as though luminous beacons lining a runway, in this instance, to the Yau Ma Tei Jade Market, is no coincidence; though the reason why the jade trade is endemic to this area of Kowloon remains a mystery.
