MythBusters Returns Wednesdays @ 9pm E/P with All-new Episodes!

Check out the top 10 strangest myths tested by the MythBusters team: http://dsc.discovery.com/videos/mythbusters-strangest-myths/?smid=YTDSC-YTD-PLP

See how Kari Byron, Tory Belleci and Grant Imahara tackle the myth of whether liquid nitrogen leaked onto a Christmas tree will cause the tree to explode.

When the air turns cold, rain falls from the sky, and the wind blows at 70 mph, is your first thought to close the windows? According to NASA, you should actually leave windows open during a hurricane or strong storm to prevent serious damage to your home. Jamie and Adam
head to The University of Florida to test out this theory with the worlds largest portable hurricane simulator.

Meanwhile, Kari, Grant and Tory tackle two frigid fables involving liquid nitrogen. Using horror movies as inspiration, the trio recreates the famous scene where the
villain dunks the victims head in liquid nitrogen for five seconds and then shatters it on the counter!

Then, they investigate a very unusual legend that if true, could potentially ruin your Christmas. Supposedly if a large amount of liquid nitrogen leaks into your Christmas tree, it will snap-freeze, expand and explode the tree! With their customary diligence, flair for danger, and a whole truckload of liquid nitrogen, the team sets out to confirm or deny this incredible tale.

  • Yes, as a matter of fact, they do explode sometimes when the temperature stays low for long enuf. My ex gf took a foot long splinter thru her hand once while she was trapping one winter.

  • um, I don't trees explode when they get cold.

  • @thefifthlord1 I know a little about physics and I didn't know that.:)

  • These guys are working with high-school level physics or even lower.. Anyone who knows anything about physics will know that if you freeze something too quickly, ice crystals won't form.

  • @chrisquick123451966 Fuck yeah.

  • @meattube2009
