Recently my E46's HIDs started flickering. They are OEM HIDs, and are the original units that came with the car. Both sides always flash together, never one side or the other. It happens whether the car's engine is running or not. If the brake pedal is pushed, they start flashing steadily about once a second. In any other circumstance it's sporatic.

Thanks in advance for any advice on a fix!

  • Hey what bumper is that on your e46 it's very slick

  • @realmanchester it's the stock sport package bumper. I really like it too.

  • What software do you use to edit your videos?

  • @BiteDoctor Adobe Premiere. I like it, but my computer isn't quite powerful enough to let me get the full benefit out of it.

  • @BiteDoctor Did you fix your problem? I have the same issue, I have changed all the tail light bulbs and front sides. Same problem.... Please help.

  • @netoelneto The issue did get fixed. It turned out to be a bad ground in the wiring connector for the right rear tail light. Evidently the E46 wiring in the tail light is prone to melting, which results in a bad ground and the flickering of the HIDs. If you search on Google for E46 tail light ground you should find great instructions on fixing it.

  • @netoelneto actually, if you go to the link I show in the video there's information on how to fix it. That's where I found the solution for my issue.

  • Bad light module?

  • My Dad just had a ticket for that today (the cop said it was aggressive driving, he thought was Dad was flashing his lights at the truck aherad of him).

He's had the flickering for a while and hopefully the information you provided will help. Thanks.

  • THATS NO PROBLEM...I THINK ITS A SORT OF STROBE LIGHT! I HAVE SEEN IN IN NEW M3S
