In my opinion, this is the most underappreciated Taylor song. Anyone who's had their first true love break their heart knows how true the lyrics are. When I saw her live on the SN tour, I had just watched my first love walk away. I spent the entirety of this song crying. The way she reminisces on the good times, the way she wishes only the best for him, the disbelief that it "ended like this", all exactly what I went through. Regardless of who it's about, this is one of her best songs. I love it

If the embedding of FOREVER AND ALWAYS in "Last Kiss" is not clue enough Taylor wrote it for Joe Jonas, there are other hints in the actual details of the song. She sings about remembering how "I ran off the plane that July 9th" for a happy reunion. Hardcore archivists of Swift/Jonas lore will point out that she flew to Dallas on July 9, 2008 to sit in the audience for a Jonas Brothers show. That says it all, JJ lost an Angel but at least he got a "Last Kiss"

Joe Jonas broke up with her over the phone, something she has complained about on Ellen Degeneres' show, and elsewhere. She got her record company to let her record a song about it, to add at the last minute to her album. Forever & Always is the name of that song. She also wrote 'Last Kiss' about Joe Jonas, The all-caps hidden CD says it is and 'Better than Revenge' is about his ex-girlfriend, Camila Belle.
