WARSAW, KY (FOX19) - The search continues Tuesday morning for a missing duck hunter who fell into the Ohio River.
The man was with two friends Monday morning when their boat was struck by a wave, sending all three men into the Ohio River. Two of them were rescued, but the third man remains missing.
Investigators later identified them as 20 year old Justin Hern, 21 year old Joseph McDermott and 20 year old Jeremy Pence.
Pence and McDermott were rescued and transported to Carroll County Hospital. The condition of the two men is unknown at this time.
"This time of year, the temperature alone would be hazardous. If you add in the wind and the cold of the surface, they become even more hazardous, just for the hypothermia aspect," says Gary Catron, an Indiana conservation officer.
20-year-old Justin Hern has still not been found and the rescue search turned into a recovery search. The search continued Tuesday morning at 7:00am.
"I want to think that he's ok. That's all," said Denise Hern, Justin's mother. "If they will whistle for him, he'll come. When we was little, I would whistle for him and he'd hear me all over town."
Family members say Justin is an avid hunter, strong swimmer and planned on joining the Marines.
Several crews around the area were called to help with the search effort.
FOX19 will update this story as more information becomes available.
