Dear Valerie im sure Eduardo Asquez my father your teacher can hear your wonderfull performance from above i watched you years ago and was so moved if only the students today could dedicate their time in study as you did what a result Lv Victor
This was a fabulous performance-I was at this gala and I can tell you this little piece brought the house down! It was afantastic Night and very moving!
How i wish it was in French, but Valerie Masterson is so believable, the young Louise. Her use of' 'mesa di voce' expanding and then diminishing certain long notes is remarkable. London opera goers will not see and hear her like again, she is greatly missed. Even the finest young British sopranos of today lack that magical quality which was hers alone. Audiences fell in love with her!
Valerie Masterson was and is (now 72 years old) a class act, a professional to her fingertips. This is an exquiste rendition of the aria, sung in English like everything else at ENO. Parts of the translation are less successful than others, particularly those which affect the musical line ("Mon rêve n'était pas un rêve!" and "Et je tremble délicieusement
au souvenir charmant du premier jour d'amour!" Beautifully done. Brava!
Ah, lovely Valerie doing what she does best!

She was a supreme artist. I was very lucky to see her a number of times during the late 70s and 80s.
