My entry in 2bsirius' contest. This took nearly 15 hours to create!
An integral vision of the Kalipolis as described in Book II of Plato's Republic. A society where everyone works according to their talents and lives their passions, all the while engaging others in a global network of similar ideal societies.
Watch me say "et cetera" more times than I will bother to count!

  • are you aware of the global economic disaster that surrounds the use of currency to exploit and hyper-exploit resources?

  • If currency 1000 years from now is a representation of physical commodities or services then the amount of currency is fixed with relation to those commodities and services and cannot be exploited. The only way to increase the amount of currency is to produce more, it can't be done by fiat like we have today.

  • i agree fiat currency is not sound.

but using a debt-based monetary system is not sound.

  • I don't think people will be using oil in 1000 year, and I don't think debt will play that large a role either. A person's potential value to society doesn't seem to vary all that much. People are dependent on one another. As I've said in another video, if CEO's are so important that they get paid millions let's see them run the company without employees. I don't know, I never saw problems like this arising in the hypothetical society.

  • ideal societies could exist if the people who believe that cant were dead.

  • the resources we are using are not renewable resources.

    trees and oil for example.

  • yes.

  • you say we need a monetary system because a system of bartering isnt sound?

  • Mind expanding these into complete questions so maybe I have a chance of answering them?

  • monetary system?

    pitfalls of bartering?
