Why Earthbound hasn't been released on the virtual console yet.

Worked on this earlier but hadn't had time to upload it. Here is the script.

Iwata: So since we said we will be releasing Earthbound as one of the main games on the virtual console, when will it be released?

Reggie: Whenever this jar is filled to the top with 100 dollar bills.

Iwata: I think the fans will want it much sooner than that, that jar is kind of big.

Reggie: There are a lot of legal issues with this game. Don't worry, it will be filled up before you know it.

Iwata: Ok then.

Iwata: So it's been a couple years now, how is everything going on all that legal crap for Earthbound.

Reggie:Uhhhhhhh.

Iwata:Are you even trying? I mean seriously the jar has the same amount of money in it that it had 2 years ago!

Reggie: Well I don't see you working on releasing it on the virtual console in Japan.

Iwata: Maybe so but at least we have all 3 games on the gameboy advance so no one over here is complaining.

Reggie: Ah whatever.

Iwata: Please be working on it, I'm sure people don't want to spend 80 dollars on the cartridge alone.

Iwata:IT'S BEEN 2 YEARS SINCE LAST TIME REGGIE!!! WHERE IS EART(H)BOUND ON THE VIRTUAL CONSOLE?!?!?!

Reggie: It's um.

Iwata: Mother fans are lined up outside this building about to feast on your flesh!

Reggie: Ehhhhhhh I'M SCARED!!!

Iwata: YOU HAVEN'T PUT ANY MONEY IN THAT JAR SINCE 2006!!!

Reggie: I'm sorry it's not my fault!!! I keep putting money towards games that real nintendo fans don;t give a crap about and that'(s) why there's no money in it!!!

Iwata: I WILL DANGLE YOU FROM THE ROOF JUST LIKE MICHAEL JACKSON DID TO HIS SON!!!

Reggie: NO PLEASE NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Really, due to copyright issues due to copyrights being added after the initial release.

A whole bunch of lisences have to go out or they edit the shit out of the game.

Examples:

The red cross (now apparently s copyright of the American red cross)

The yellow submarine ( I don't even know.)

Other stuff.

So really, if it gets a port to the virtual console, it will be edited the crap out of.

@S0ulman2 They yeellow submarine is a reference to the Beatles song "Yellow Submarine". Considering they don't use the song and it's just a submarine painted yellow, I don't see why there is a problem with that. They aren't directly doing anything.

Mother trilogy for USA and Japan is all well and Good but what about us Europeans we never got Earthbound for the SNES which is bullshit.

I don't think the Beatles references/similarities would be a problem at all for Nintendo. Nintendo shouldn't worry because I also don't think anyone would notice any of the other similarities unless they are fans.

@skysamfreeman I think it's because there was a cartoon film based (featuring the Beatles as cartoons) on the song, which had a submarine. Which was yellow. I think that's it.

@S0ulman2 the red cross isn't in there- all the visuals like that were fixed- the issue is the game EB contains samples of Beatles and the Champs Tequilla that they have no permission to used (seriously, I own the cart the visuals were fixed for the US to avoid that)
