On November 18th, Congressman John Garamendi (CA) joined Congressman Keith Ellison (MN) & Congressman Steve Cohen (TN) to discuss the need to extend unemployment insurance and allow the expiration of the 2001 tax cuts for the wealthiest 2%. Earlier in the day, Republicans blocked an extension of unemployment insurance for 2 million Americans, out of work through no fault of their own. There is only 1 job for every 5 jobseekers. In addition, every $1 for employment insurance adds $1.61 to the economy, because that money is quickly pumped into the economy. Meanwhile, Republicans adamently push to continue exorbitant tax cuts for the wealthiest 2% of Americans, which would add $700 billion to the deficit. Mr. Scrooge goes to Washington.

We will no longer subsidize and encourage unemployment as a benefit. Why should unproductive laziness benefit anyone? We have cut wasteful spending. I hope we chuck this socialist entitlement into the garbage forever.

@ToxicOdiousOne Wake UP! If you lost your job tomorrow this means you won't get the money they have been taking out of our checks for as long as you have held a job. Not to mention the money people put in that never lost there jobs. What if you don't find work that pays your bills right away? Jobs are 5 to1. Don't listen to rich people like Fox newscasters. You are not rich like they are , they have hurt you country to bleed it dry. And now your for them? You are not in the 2%!
