Newly Formed 150,000-Strong Nurses' Union Pushes for Single-Payer Healthcare
Three of the countrys top organizations of direct care registered nurses have come together to form a new national nurses union that is advocating for a single-payer national health insurance program. The new union unifies the California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee, United American Nurses, and the Massachusetts Nurses Association into a 150,000-member association, making it the largest registered nurses union in US history. We speak with Geri Jenkins, a registered nurse and co-president of the union. [includes rush transcript]

In California, those who are poor are already covered by MediCal. After being involved in an accident, my brother stayed in the hospital 5 days, and he paid nothing. He's out of work, and MediCal covered him. In California, I'd say the system worked fine for him. Why fix something that isn't broken?

Barack Obama will never say to your face what he actually plans to do. Everything's rolled-out in a Trojan horse. Theyll be no private insurance industry left after five years. Why should we give Government medical insurance to 15 million illegals?
