You should see a tick box on the properties bar when you have selected the (text) object on the stage.

i keep getting 0 when i add multiplay and subract but when i divide it gives me a NaN symbol which i found out meant Not a Number. soooo why am i getting this? i did everything you did and i got flash CS4 AS 2 document. uhmm not sure what else i gotta do plz help asap

@wavemaster454 ... I think you need to (un)check the auto kern option in Flash.
I don't know exactly why that happens, all I know is it fixes it :)
