proving the bible by reading the bible?

well the only way you would know if the bible is true is if the things prophecied about Jesus Christ long before came true. Such as the books of Isaiah, and some of the Psalms by David... which describe flawlessly about Jesus Christ and even describing his death to very close detail.... hundreds of years before Jesus was born... you would know that the bible is the word of God, if the words and prophecies came true

Jesus isn't a historical figure?? We have plenty of evidence for a historical Jesus. The Bible's manuscript evidence is overwhelming. Somewhere around 6,000 manuscripts or portions of manuscripts of the New Testament alone were written within 2.5 decades of the original writings. Can't say that about the Ceasars' Gaelic Wars, Aristotle's Poetics, or Homer's Iliad. All those were written more than 1,000 years after the original, and yet we take their history without question.

@MrLogicnreason If you do not trust the bible that's OK. I would suggest research by history. Due diligence is needed here to find the truth. Prejudism of believing the bible before doing a research is flawed logic. At the same token judging it as just written to fake us out without any analysis is also a flawed logic. Be truthful about the history for some historians were well respected and have good reputation. Some that tried to distort the truth, later on was found to be baseless, made up.

So the Bible is God's word, because the Bible says? Flawed logic. I have books that speak of Santa, as well as my parents telling me that he was real....doesn't make it so.

I really enjoyed your sermon and the way you presented it. It was strong, clear to understand, and right on! I had heard a sermon by Walter Vieth on this topic. He, too, mentioned that Jesus fulfilled over 300 Bible predictions, and that just 8 fulfilled by one person was 10/17 amazing! How can any one person ever doubt that Jesus is God, but of course there are always those who hum loudly while eyes closed with inserted fingers in ears. Those who refuse any light, who just want what they want..

@ndjarnag Yes. As I said earlier there are no contradictions. Here is how the story went by: Joseph and Mary lived in Nazareth. Census came and they went to Bethlehem. Almost two years later they still live in Bethlehem. Now they flee to Egypt. When Herod the great have died, they return. Finding out his son rule, they move to Nazareth again instead of Bethlehem.

@JamesAsp Again, In Matthew they already live there, then moved to Nazareth when warned by an angel. In Luke they live in Nazareth they visited Bethlehem for the Census. Bottomline, both authors were using different mechanisms to place Jesus's birth in Bethlehem (to correspond to prophecy) while it was well known that he was from Nazareth. Also, the idea of Herod killing all the children in the area 2 years old and younger is not supported by historical evidence and is a quite outlandish.

What a rip dude...You started off your sermon with a request for money. Why don't you do it free like Jesus did? Ooops, I forgot you couldn't have that big church and big pay check without begging for cash. Where is Jesus buried? He clearly said you can't get to heaven and be with the father in human form. How then did he do it? He didn't! The human portion, Jesus, is dead and buried. The Christ Spirit is in heaven and will return at some point by entering the body of another human.
