San Diego has one of the largest populations of homeless in the nation. In "Small Acts of Kindness" we see a day in the life of San Diego homeless through the eyes of Dave "The Water Man" Ross and Congressman Bob Filner, Chair of the VA Committee. Rachel Jensen, founder of Girls Think Tank, also appears. This puts a human face on this problem that is a challenge to society. This video produced by http://www.crystalpyramid.com is the recipient of a Golden Ava Award. Shot by Mark Schulze and edited by Patty Mooney. • you are really inspiring! thank you soo much for doing what you do! the world needs more people like you!

  • @mastrubite That is really sweet of you to say, and you too, @dragonflychainsaw. I give kudos to my parents who were both philanthropists and taught me the importance of loving others in whatever way you can. Sometimes all it takes to make someone's day is a smile. Smiles are free and yet so appreciated by the receiver.

  • If there was no social safety nets such as unemployment benefits or Social Security or Food Stamps, in such trying times, USA would see at least 20-30x more homeless people on its streets than we have right now... It's a shame we squandered $2-3 billion a week on unjust war... Osama Bin Laden won on that front... he knew he can't fight us militarily, but, he can bleed us economically in the sands of Arabia or the mountains of Afghanistan... Shame on us for electing a fool back in the year 2000.

  • @TheEsotericDesi - You make some good points. And we're still bleeding out our Treasury in the sands of the Middle East while Exxon Mobil recently made their greatest profits of all time. Maybe THEY should be footing the bill on all these wars because it's all about the oil.

  • @ethifanman - Feel what you feel - that's up to you. Cigarette addiction, obesity, and other such dis-eases portray self-loathing. One of my best friends (now deceased) once said that "The only thing separating you and me is our skin." So it follows that I am you and you are me, and we are all together. Is it okay to be disdainful of others (and therefore ourselves)? Again, it's up to you. In a sense, it is about you.

  • If one must be homeless San Diego is a perfect city for it: beautiful weather all year round makes for an easy life. Try being homeless in NYC or Chicago during the winter, yikes. Those folks are warriors.

  • thank goodness there are people like you out there helping

  • @FuzzyCigarDude I truly feel sorry for you. The venom you spew reveals the void of your soul. Obviously you have no belief in God and this is sad. Do you realize the 25% of the homeless are Vietnam Veterans (look it up). These people fought for their country. May God have mercy on your soul for the hurtful comments you sling at your fellow man.

  • I hadn't viewed this video or the comments in over a year and was apalled at some of the negative comments that were posted here, especially by FuzzyCigarDude. It amazes me that in a country that proposes to be founded on Christian values that such horrific philosophies and views can exist. Jesus' message was constantly about helping the poor. The opening segment of this video showing a picture of Jesus and slogan tells it all.

Tom Yarborough (contributor of song Jeanny on the video).

  • Americas news media spent countless hours and dollars on the showing of the royal wedding.Unless Americas news presenters are prepared to get out of their air conditioned TV and radio stations and stand up for thoes whom have no voice and they despise they have no right to identify themselves as journalist. Take care ADonovan43

  • Thank you for the water, man :)
