My next project.... a metallophone made from brake drums from my local scrap yard. This octave wasn't tuned at all, the drums are just as I found them. After I develop a mounting system, they will go to the Earth Tones Music Garden at Raven Hill Discovery Center. For more information about my instruments, go to http://www.tinkertunes.com

  • They are not brake drums but brake rotors. And the big wheel at the left is an engine's flywheel.

  • @expertmax1 You're right, of course. I do have another set, that is made of actual brake drums (and some rotors)... and they have a nice pitched tone, if you play the sides of the drum, rather than the top.
