The final section of this pilot presentation. This version of an end will likely leave the viewer feeling incomplete. To explain, there are a couple of elements missing that I hope will one day present themselves in a fuller version. One is a narrative that I tinker with, albeit not my strong suit, I feel that viewers would be more engaged should they be following a linear journey rather than this hodge-podge of interviews. The other element that comes up short, in my opinion, are more interviews from people like Rob at the Shepherds of Good Hope shelter. In my journey across the country making pieces of this documentary I found administrations of such organizations as The Salvation Army to be very elusive and suspicious. This video will only be a fair comment of advocacy if both sides of the streets are willing to speak openly.
I have not worked on Street Dream for a couple of years now. It is on the shelf for a few more months while I complete organization of its section of my website. I do hope to get it all together again and get a more fulfilling look at the streets in Canada. In the meantime I will periodically upload other samples I have from other cities. Winnipeg, for instance, has several vignettes that are more or less ready for viewing.
At the end of this segment is the credit sequence, featuring very few last names. The streets often prefer an element of anonymity, indeed, that is often close to the very nature of the plight of the homeless person in several ways. Also in the credits is my attempt at scrounging some spare change from the CBC, Telefilm, and the NFB. So far I am still a ways off for securing any kind of funding for this project. Once the Yukon Territorial Government gave me a grant of $1500 for a Whitehorse version, and that was appreciated, yet short lived. Once more, I am merely scratching the surface s of the streets with what little material is in this pilot.
Thank you indeed for watching. I hope you will comment when time allows.
