Dedicated to Kentishbloke for his support and kindness. Variety act from the fifties and sixties. Clever wordplay was their forte. Don't get much of that anymore.

  • This is very much the national anthem of the transport industry!

  • "If tickets cost a pound a piece" - no-one would make a fuss these days.

  • Tinker Dill sang this beautifully ;D

  • ",,,Monarch of the Road, Observer of the Highway Code..." things don't change much!

  • I drive my merry load.... Big six wheeler scarlet paint london omnibus.... them jackel taxi drivers.... monarch on the road.

  • this takes me back to the 1960s great track.

  • It's just wonderful to be able to listen to Transport of Delight. Specially now there aren't any more 97 horsepower omnibuses any more. No conductors no calling "pass further down the car". You can't even hang off the platform of a Routemaster any more. In fact there isn't even anything called London Transport now. Or any buses with stairs.

  • Haven't heard this for quite a few years. Great stuff.

  • @ArtyEffem It's only £1.20 on Oyster...

  • I must wonder how fast a fully-loaded bus could go on 97 HP? A London commuters' group, the Underground Resistance Movement, adopted this as their theme song.

  • I have only found 1 place that someone can get on a bus for under £1 and that is in Newport 90p for a child single £1.40 for adult single

  • @ArtyEffem your right there
