Sketches from the Pillow Book of the Amsterdam Chamber Theatre is a poetical reflection of the world through the eyes of the Japanese court lady from the 10th century.

Sei Shõnagon (ca. 966 - 1017) is one of the great writers of prose in the long history of Japanese literature.
Pillow book is a collection of thoughts, anecdotes, stories, lists, and sketches. It offers us a possibility to step into an intimate world in which beauty and poetry reign, where senses are sharp and were a person is highly aware over visual details, sounds and smells.
