- This song would soon evolve into "The Moma Dance".

With minimal musical structure, the song provided an awesome launching point for many memorable jams.

Another great performance of "Black-Eyed Katy" from this tour was on 11-23-97 at Winston-Salem, NC, the third song of the first set.

The song always jammed so intensely - or nearly always; the final performance on Dec. 30th during the encore was a nice & relaxed five minute "phunky" version. . .

  • 97 was a great year! i remember reading a article with Trey saying they were listening to a lot of Curtis Mayfield on the bus during the fall tour. The Phunk was really turned on in 1997! I love that Fall Tour!
