I agree with you 100% even though this video was done in 2007; it is still in practice. In 2009, at North Carolina School for the Deaf in Morganton, NC, 70% of the kids were from mainstreamed failed and yes, a dumping ground at NCSD... duh!
@gratefuldeaf I'm sorry you feel that way. I was mainstreamed K-10 and spend last two years in deaf school. I saw a completely new world and how the education system works. I can safely assure you their educational level is very elementary as they were teaching sentence structures where I learned this in elementary school. If I were you, I would be happy I was mainstreamed! I spent last two years being lazy as there was nothing new to learn. I did not do classwork or homework and still got an A.
I've been mainstreamed my whole life from K through 12. I have come to a realization that Deaf students would be labeled as guinea pigs in mainstreaming system. I do not like that the fact that the Deaf children shall be "assimilated" by the mass of hearing children in the public schools. The truth is that the hearing people have long wanted to disperse deaf children in public schools. No wonder why Deaf children have been segregated for so long!
You one of my heroes, honestly. I would like to fundraise for the DBC. I will be looking at your website to see how I can do that. Thanks for your intelligence, eloquence, and (from what I can see below) your infinite patience in attempting to educate others.
Looks like you don't understand the concept of a vlog or a blog that it is for those observers who share their perspectives, opinions, experiences, etc. Nowhere it says it is required for everyone to give two sides of the topic when doing a vlog or a blog. People know better than that to seek for options by doing research, duh.
Yeah, its unnecessary for you to use profane language so that's why you are not being diplomatic. Sounds like you need some growing up to do. Good luck with your career.
i have no diplomacy in me? that's kind of ironic, it's you, you don't know what youre talking about. you're not professional in this position, but you do have respect. i am majoring in this position, but i need to build up my respect.
i may be a lot younger than you, but oh fucking yes, i know how psychology works.
why are you using fancy words? trying to sound smart? well, i can do better than that. BUT it's unnecessary to talk like that HERE on youtube.
you're right, i didnt catch it. so you admit you are not neutral.
frankly, yes, i dont give a fuck about this subject, but the reason why i am here -- it's that you're feeding people with ONE side. are you afraid to give people more options? to be great observer, you need to UNDERSTAND BOTH SIDES and GIVE PEOPLE MORE OPTIONS, so that parent can pick what is best for their kids. you gave us ONE fucking option. you're not a observer unless you tell us OTHER options.
