Silver Lake LAPD press conference pt 1 of 3: the entire press conference, held in the late afternoon of February 3, 2009 at the LAPD Northeast Station, lasted a bit more than 20 minutes, with the Los Angeles Police Department represented as well as L.A. City Council Members Eric Garcetti (Council District 13) and Tom LaBonge (Council District 4). The press conference concerned some recent crimes, including robberies/assaults, in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles. Anyone with information regarding these crimes can contact the Northeast Gang Detectives at (213) 847-4263. After hours and weekends, call the24-hour toll free at 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855). Anonymous Crime Tips can be texted by Short Message Service (SMS) by typing the code "LAPD" to "CRIMES" or (274637) via cell phone. In addition, LAPD will have a community meeting:

  • When more businesses close, the streets get darker and more dangerous, people lose their service jobs (not good for your health to be un-employed).so yes, you can say that it does.

  • What a great time for the city council to consider an "outdoor" smoke ban. Brilliant. Let's just close down more independent restaurants and bars so that the gang-bangers can take over our darkened streets. Less people on patios=darker streets=more people out of work=over-stretched police dept=more crime. Think it's bad now, just wait and see if they pass this.

  • My buddy also got assaulted by these punks, by Westmoreland and Santa Monica, next to the Little Temple. Be careful and cautious. This occurred in early December about 2am.
