A woman perforates her colon during a spa colonic. An injury of this sort, diagnosed early, often can be repaired using minimally invasive techniques, avoiding the need for a large open incision with a (temporary) diverting colostomy). Using sutures passed through the abdominal wall to help stabilize the colon above the pelvic brim can aid in identifying and repairing the perforation.
