Watch WHOLE James Cameron's Avatar Full-length Movie at http://watch-the-avatar-movie.blogspot.com

Near the end of the hit film "Avatar," the villain snarls at the hero, "How does it feel to betray your own race?" Both men are white — although the hero is inhabiting a blue-skinned, 9-foot-tall, long-tailed alien.
Strange as it may seem for a film that pits greedy, immoral humans against noble denizens of a faraway moon, "Avatar" is being criticized by a small but vocal group of people who allege it contains racist themes — the white hero once again saving the primitive natives.

Since the film opened to widespread critical acclaim three weeks ago, hundreds of blog posts, newspaper articles, tweets and YouTube videos have made claims such as that the film is "a fantasy about race told from the point of view of white people" and reinforces "the white Messiah fable."

The film's writer and director, James Cameron, says the real theme is about respecting others' differences.
I think that indeed Cameron talls the story of white man guilt, indeed the message of the movie is like that of Costners Dances, but in both cases the story that discloses a guilt, cannot be called racist, only because of this confession.

See, Cameron speaks to young people who spent hours on 3D computer games, indulge in Second Lifes etc and using their languge and specific game genre expresses the guilt of collonialism, the concern for the future, the worries about superficial reasons we made conquests, and puts the culture of lion-strong military in question

While I do not want to exaggerate and to say, that Avatar is a masterpiece of narration and moral message (as it is of 3D effects and humanoid animations), I must say that I was pleasantly suprised when I was leaving the theatre last night .

  • @TheHobgoblyn but the way the so called natives in the movie talked was african as are the braids, an the jewelry an clothing .The plot of the movie was about the whites an indians history but everything else about the nazis is african, just not the straight hair

  • @gombet next thing you know they will say movies like it's a bugs life is racist lol

  • whether those were the intentions of the director or not, but most patronizing rich white liberal (whether james cameron is a liberal or not is unknown to me but regarding the obvious themes of the film and the sake of argument i'm going to assume he is at least left leaning) to men probubly take it for granted that they think every else thinks there better too so they don't even realize there putting those kind of sentiments into a peice of art.

  • despite the feel good messages like "save the planet" and how much this movie is like Ferngully... there is an under laying theme of Anglo superiority.

  • The Navi natives wanted their land and their people to stay the same on their planet. There was no massive immigration and the Navi took pride in their culture, their way of life and wanted no outside influence

I see this movie as actually a lesson for our tribe. We like the Navi want our land for OUR people with no immigration, no affirmative action and to be simply left alone. We can self govern within our own race.

  • @TheHobgoblyn Exactly what i'm thinking

  • best reply here!

  • damnit ppl ITS NOT RACIST the essage of the film is that diplomacy is better than war.. !
