If you've never heard of Reverend Guitars, you really owe yourself to check them out. I thought I was waiting to afford a high end Gibson until I tried out the Warhawk II at Tim's Guitar Workshop (Baton Rouge - http://www.timsguitar.com.) Once I tried this baby out -- let's just say I'm not waiting to buy the Gibson anymore... Tim is a trained luthier and sets up every guitar before it leaves his shop. This instrument was perfect. The intonation on this instrument is as good as any I've ever heard... and it's fast, very fast. The action reminds me a lot of the Gibson Explorer... The Warhawk has 3 PHAT P-90 single coil pickups with a 5-way switch -- positions 2 and 4 are arranged in humbucking configuration.

The "other musician living here" does not like it when I futz around with amp settings, so I bought myself the Berhinger V-amp 2... At the time I had no idea what I was getting -- I just needed "something" - but I must say I was exceptionally amazed. 32 different amp models and just about every effect you can think of -- with 24-bit clarity and about 104-116dB frequency response (better than CD quality and this recording will prove it [uploaded at 160kpbs AAC for this vid].) This demo is just a fraction of what it is capable of.

The audio was signal path was: Warhawk II -- V-amp -- Griffin iMic (mac/usb 1.1 !) -- direct recording. No filters were used to modify the audio in any way. However, there are several clips that were pasted together to assemble this demo. Some amp models with effects have some noise -- just like their real counterparts... but notice how quiet this recording is.

I tried to use a lot of different playing styles for this demo -- from flatpicking to fingerpicking -- hard rock to country (sort of.) Hope it serves you.

I put together the visualizer so you wouldn't have to look at me (you're welcome!)

  • the griffin imic has an input AND an output that can be used simultaneously (I have my headphones hooked up to it all the time.) You can use Sound Prefs panel to select your input and your output (separately, if need be.) Some software might require you set the input via its own preferences [logic pro, garageband (i think) etc...]

iMic's effective audio quality is 16-bit 48kHz in and out. Not the best, but HQ and can't be beat at ~$40.

  • Nice one.

I used to own a Warhawk I (Discontinued ages ago) and i love it to bits.

I play very heavy music and this guitar didnt really suit it so i swapped it for the beast ive got now!

Watch my videos to see it, tell me what you think =)

  • nice stuff =) hey,i've got a question about the griffin imic: so you plug an input via usb and then you can use the output from the mac (the one that comes ^stupidly^ combined with the input on mbp 13'') ? so you can route:

guitar > imic > ''some software in mac that recives audio from imic and sends it to the audio output(like ableton live, maybe?'' > mbp 13 inch model output/input/"don't know why they are combined" thing > speakers ; ?
