And here goes, Zeromus has been defeated in a Low Level Game, European Version. And I think I got some new lowest levels around, too. Anyway, the strategy is not actually new, it has been used in the american version where speed is less a matter due to a bug. To get it to work in this version, I needed the Red Jacket for Edward, which boosts his Agility from 20 to 35! This and a early Spiders Silk on Zeromus makes him rival the speed, meaning Edward will act just as fast.
Let me explain the strategy here. Edward will hide from Big Bang, revive Edge afterwards (or Cecil once Fuma Shuriken are out), who then will Throw those Fuma Shuriken while Edward goes back into hiding before the next Big Bang. This simply repeats, looking out for Bio which comes after every third Big Bang. Also note that between the first and second Big Bang is no Black Hole, so Edward stays hidden between those two before starting his pattern. This actually depletes Zeromus HP quite fast, but is also quite costy seeing Fuma Shuriken cost 50000 Gil a piece. It would be possible to go with Cecil attacking instead, but that would have the video length exploding as Cecil is also a lot slower then Edge. I will redo the fight like that however, just not record it as there is nothing else to it.
Now about the later phases. Zeromus in Phase 1 is manageable, but in later Phases (mainly 3) he will be hell because Edward cannot do his pattern any more. For Phase 2, there still is a huge enough hole, but in Phase 3, he will more or less spam Meteor. No way.
OK, so from when to when are phases is a huge thing: Phase 1 starts right off (with a little tweak in the beginning) and goes until Zeromus lost about 50000 HP, at 16000. He will then refill to 65000 and some and enter phase 2. Still no big deal.. but when at 12000 HP, he will be in Phase 3, which means we cannot do him any more. We have thus to avoid Phase 3 at all cost.
Now, there is a little bug in Phase Transition. Zeromus will only change to phase 2 if he is in phase 1 and between 16000 and 12000 HP (also as a counter, so it is a no go with multiple attacks) and to phase 3 if he is in phase 2 already and below 12000 HP. Yes, he will NOT change phases if he is still in Phase 1 and BELOW 12000 HP. This means we have to hit him for at least 4000 damage in one attack. Not that many things that can do that.. actually, the only one possible to do this is Edge throwing the Knife (aka Spoon). Sucks, because it is unique, but this is the final battle after all. Once below 12000 HP, he will repeat his phase 1, so it is only a few more HP to go until the battle is won.
Again, levels:
Cecil 25
Kain 26
Rydia 24
Edward 26
Rosa 26
Yang 26
Palom 26
Porom 26
Cid 27
Edge 28
Average: 26.0
Max Difference: 4 (Edge - Rydia)
beatiful work!
Do you think it is possible to add some other rules in the LLG?
flak76e 2 years ago
It has been done as LLG + Initial Equipment in the american (bugged) version, which made it only possible due to monsters acting a lot slower though. So far, I do not think I can forbid anything more. Equip is a must for Zeromus (at least Edwards Red Jacket) as well as for a lot of other battles where defense helps, Items are a must for healing and reviving, magic is a must.. and some single commands like jump are needed in special occasions. Maybe weapons.. but thats stupid imo.

I finally see how the phase manipulation works. Awesome!
Does he ever run out of the Slow status, by the way?

Nope, Slow and Haste are never removed, much like it was the case in FF6. However, Slow in this game is simply like AGI -8 (in case of Spiders Silk at least, Slow spell is less but stacks up to -8) and given zeromus has 69 agi, that's not that much (actually slow alters a bonus, but too few characters to explain). Also, to take the upcoming question about hasting Edward: Black Hole removes speed modifiers as well as statuses, but only on our party which is why Slow keeps its presence.
