http://www.eurocarnews.com - Though the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) does not normally evaluate large SUV's VW requested their newly redesigned Volkswagen Touareg be put through the standard battery of crash test scenarios. The IIHS was happy to oblige and the results showed that the Volkswagen Touareg is the only large SUV to earn TOP SAFETY PICK for 2011.

VW engines hold up extremely well. The new 2011s are basically flawless because it's the third generation, errors have been corrected and it's an incredible car. Also VW has 3yr carefree maintenance! They have a very well engineered car. Mr. Browning knows how to run VW

@bazouli50 not neccessarily true, The engine's are near indestructible on these vehicles, especially the TDI, i've had a half a dozen and put at least half a million KM on each one.

LARGE???? This is little more than a cute-ute. The crash test is impressive though. I still wouldn't buy one, too much VW maintainance. They can say that they last forever because you are replacing parts at 60K that don't fail on other cars until 120K.
