Rick Tew's NinjaGym™ Martial Arts & Fitness Programs

Martial Arts Training and Martial Arts Instructor Career Path for teens and adults. Male and female students are welcome.

NinjaGym Martial Arts and Fitness blog covers Martial Arts, Ninja Arts, Fitness, and Healthy Lifestyle.

Here the students of our long term live-in camp in Thailand are practicing the forward roll. We do most of our techniques on the grass and on the ground without the use of a mat. However, our students often roll and fall hundreds to thousands of times in a short period and the mat only softens the blow to their bodies. You will notice that we also do not use a SOFT mat but a HARD mat.

At first the students are doing a typical shoulder roll. Next they practice a forward roll application by rolling and picking up a stick. After a few more rolls they need to roll to pick up the weapon and then use it to defend against a strike to the head from another stick. Our cameraman (Eduardo) seems to go insane at the end of this clip (as the camera jumps around and attempts to make the viewer dizzy) -- don't worry, the video continues in another clip.

  • @Matix110797 Only for a laugh.

  • I'm going to study that Judo move a lot more in-depth, it is executed very efficiently here, so much so that I find it hard (for a non-grappler) to track the foot movements. Nice post.

  • Ninjutsu is an amazing art. To bad what you see in this video is not ninjutsu. Sucks that some dumb suckers are learning from this guy.

  • Ninjitsu it's ok :-)
