I am playing!

This is the first prelude and fugue from Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier Book 1. Bach originally composed these two volumes of keyboard music to demonstrate the system of equal temperament, in which the octave is divided into equal twelve semitones, in order for the music to modulate and the player to continue playing without switching to another keyboard.
Enjoy! :)

  • Oh and I almost forgot: the fact you were playing it on a harpsichord like Bach originally intended it to be played on, it makes the entire "thing" so authentical.

  • Oh yeah, I actually did it on the harpsichord for that reason. :) Thank you. :)

  • Wow I'm really impressed. I can't understand why I didn't notice before that you're playing ^^

The prelude always made me dream and you played it very smoothly.

You played the fugue very accentuated and I loved it. Thank you so much Kitty.

Well actually I have an idea right now...

    ;-)

  • Thanks a lot :))))) I always find fugues much harder than preludes, because in preludes you just have to keep the touch even and smooth, but fugues...you have to make the subject more audible, keep the other parts going, add different expressions in different lines...bla bla bla...!! :)

I need an extra pair of ears! :D

  • Kitty, are you playing this? It's fantastic! I'll have to write a special keyboard piece now especially for you. Perhaps you can debut it on YouTube (I'll keep it simple, I promise :)

  • Oh, thank you very much for the compliment, dear Paul. This piece took A LOT of effort and work! It would be truly an honour for me to play some of your music "contemporary baroque" in my free time. I'm not that good of a piano student though, but I'll try hard!
