Gorgeous scene from "I Capuleti ed i Montecchi" by Vincenzo Bellini, originally the role of Romeo was written for a contralto/mezzo soprano, but in this particular production it was sung by the tenor Giacomo Aragall, he sang the role taking the low G's and Bb's an octave up in his middle register and thus transposing the role to a tenor tessitura instead of deeping in what would be bass-baritone.

  • Such a bad idea to sing a piece not written for your voice ! Here a voice of tenor is completely unable to pay justice to the aria such as a (mezzo-) soprano voice. The tempo is ridiculously slow...

  • This is beautiful - but the mezzo version is beautiful too. Anyone who has heard Kasarova doing it would agree. Beautiful voice this Giacomo has though!

  • Bravo Jaume!
