Okay, I'll speculate that, while Prince did have some money in 1988, he'd only been getting those gigantic "Purple Rain" royalty check for about 4 years and wanted to open himself up to other revenue-generating opportunities. Can't blame him, but this really is awful. Still, I'm holding out for the hope that he had absolutely nothing to do with this mess.
