I want to make this very clear: I am talking about identity and self-expression, NOT about ones physical desires! People who are attracted to men can still date women. No, they may not be physically or emotionally satisfied, but thats not the point!

People have the right to choose how they want to be perceived and what communities they want to be a part of. They have the right to say, "I'm Gay" or "I'm Straight" and not have someone else question that assertion. We need to stop fighting the "it's not a choice" battle because it assumes that, were it a choice, we would NEVER choose being gay over being straight.

I am not forced to be a lesbian. I CHOOSE to live my "homosexual lifestyle" because it makes me happy and, not being bound by religious doctrine, I see no reason why I shouldn't be gay. I love the community, I love the identity, I love my partner, and *most importantly* I love myself. Even if someone told me that they could change my biology to be only attracted to men, I would refuse.

When people say that they would chose to be straight if they could, then they are undermining the gay community by reinforcing the false sexuality hierarchy. (i.e. being straight is preferable to being gay) As far as Im concerned, if you don't want to be gay then don't be. I love being gay and I'd rather not have anyone on my team that isn't excited about being there. Stop being a spoilsport. Stop being a martyr. Stop being a victim.

No one and nothing can force you to be something you don't want to be. I just don't understand why someone would not want to be gay. It's FABULOUS! =D

* This video by ZJEmptv addresses more logically the same ideas that I am expressing in this more emotional vignette. If you still don't get what I'm taking about, please check this out:

Today's Question:
Have you chosen your sexuality?
(If not, what are you waiting for??)

----

p.s. I know I keep dropping off the face of YouTube, give me a damn break! I'm readjusting to this whole Grad School "have to spend time studying instead of having fun" thing. I'm working on balancing my schedule out to get more videos in, but just be patient people!! :P

  • @BornWithoutReligion I did read the description box. It states everything you stated in the actual video. My earlier comment still stands. Not everyone accepts themselves completely enough to be as confident of their sexual orientation as you are.

  • @ihearlevi I refute your argument, then, as I have indeed chosen to be gay and know many people (some of whom have posted here) who have also chosen this as a way of life. Choosing to be gay does not in any way comment on whether or not I was born with chemical attraction to one sex or the other (or neither, or both), so your assertion that people are "born that way" is irrelevant to my point. I also strongly believe that actions define a person, not DNA, so a person's identity is a choice.

  • This is very offensive to everyone! I am sorry, but people do not choose to be gay. Many teens and adults go through the process of accepting themselves, which is why they sometimes say they wish they could be straight. People who are ga can be proud of how they were born, but they did not choose.

  • @ihearlevi Videos have description boxes for a reason.

  • you choose to act upon your natural impulses, to be attracted to females

    who wouldn't do that?

I don't understand why people would do that

I wouldn't change it because I don't know any different?

It all sounds like religious bullshit to me, I don't believe in religion, of any kind

but that is another conversation all together.

I guess I 'choose' to be gay as well, but it wasn't really a choice, but I choose to act on my instincts

  • @IMHANNAHBROOMHALL I agree with you, probably more than you realize. The reason ex-gays decide to live a straight lifestyle is ridiculously stupid, backwards, and probably unhealthy and damaging psychologically for the individual and their partner. However, I'm not going to try to change others to act in ways that I think are best, and I expect the same from them (not that I think they'll be as understanding). Thanks for some great comments :)

  • @mrcooldude964 You have no evidence for your god. And honestly, if your best arguement against homosexuality is "It's not natural.", that's pretty sad. Firstly, it IS natural. There are many gay animals. And secondly, why does something being unnatural make it bad? Do you think the computer your using is natural? You have no logical arguement for why homosexuality is wrong. It does no harm to anyone in any way. You're just a bigoted zealot.

  • @raxkar why not have your own kids and not adopt? reason you cant have your own is because you chose to live against gods way of things and chose to go against god and do what is unatural, which god calls lust and perversion not love.

the kid you adopt will grow up and not even know the difference between a male or female. youll teach them they are all the same. and it will not be long before the perversion goes to the next level and youll teach its ok to marry animals.

  • @blackkakari there is a reason men dont have overies in there butts and women dont shot sperm from there viginas. reason is its unatural and not how god intented it to be. you can pervert how god made things to be but where will it get you in the end when your standing before jesus on judgment day (and we all will)

1 cor 6:9-10, Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders will inherit the kingdom of God.

  • @mrcooldude964 So true. And my dad never teach me to put my penis in a vagina, so that's why I put it in butts now... Well, I think that Children are vulnerable and that we most preserved them from the adult world since they are not ready for it and they need love and stability. I think gay parents can give that to a child if they are ready for it. The sexual education should be the same has with straight parents. I'm thinking of adopting when I'm more settled in life, but it's still a long way.

  • @mrcooldude964 You need to just delete your youtube account entirely because your projecting nothing but evil. HOW IRONIC.

  • @deathquest03 You didn't answer shit. You just went off comparing homosexuality to a bunch of legitimately wrong sexual acts, never once saying HOW homosexuality is anything like them. You might as well have said "Having a foot fetish is like skull fucking a toddler!"

  • @blackkakari I kinda already answered that, but you already pulled the bigot card. Yep, I expected that was going to happen, anytime someone has a valid arguement against homosexuality, its, "you're just a bigot, hey, don't listen to him, he's just a bigot"

  • there is a difference between sinning and living in sin, christians that sin are sorry when they sin and ask god to forgive them and do there best to not do it again. those living in sin (gay lifestyle) are proud of there sin and dont want forgivness, they will not even admit its wrong (they decieved themselves) not only are they rejecting jesus to live in sin but they even take signs in the streets proudly proclaiming there lust and perversion that they call love for all to see,
