I watched the Ruth Lyons thing. But the way these anchors are set up at this desk is so awkward! Jerry has to lean to the right around Norma to broadcast. Odd.
I benefitted from Ruth Lyons Children's Christmas Fund when I had my tonsils out at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Dayton, OH, at age 5 in 1957. My 2-year-old brother and I were terrified as our mother wasn't permitted to stay with us; the toys we received made us feel better. When my darling grandson was in the NICU with hydrocephalus in 2006, both he and his older brother got toys from The Children's Fund. Thank you, "Mother"! I'll always love and admire you!
1960 - in st. elizabeth hospital with a broken nose and busted face. a nun ( representing ruth lyons christmas club) came in my room and gave me a gift to encourage me.thanks ruth- you were always fabulous !
Man I remember her so much. Before I was in school in 1962, My Grandma never missed her. I watched her on WLWI channel 13 in Indianapolis. Great lady.

@usmale3 Actually, the mayorship came first. He was mayor from 1977-78, and anchored on WLWT in the 80s and very early 90s.

Jerry Springer anchoring the news??
And yet, Springer was supposed to have been one of the best local news anchors of the era!
Boy, did he go through a mid-career change!
I suspect the "flag with 50 stars" clip was from August of 1959, around the time Hawaii became our 50th state.
And didn't the "50-50 Club" enjoy a brief run on NBC-TV in the mid-1950's??

What a sentimental revisit of a Cincinnati gone and will never be seen again.
Perhaps we never knew what we had. What Character is this city had. I do In deed miss all these people. and The Cincinnati I love
