A nude Jesus made out of over 200 pounds of dark chocolate brought complaints from Catholic officials & death threats to the gallery owners at 47th St. & Lexington Ave in NYC.

Randy Wicker & Ryan Wolowski were on hand for the scheduled opening. Here is what happened....

  • I love this video and I use it for my students, who need a lot of practise to improve their American and to learn about the american way of life. Your vids are always welcome. Kiss, kiss ♥

  • @edithdiangelo That's the nicest thing anyone has said to me this year. I've gotten a bit burned out on producing videos because you feel no one is watching them--and those who do simply don't comment or say something stupid. Your comment will help me recharge my batteries. Thank you so much!

  • Encouragement is what empowers me.

  • Kudos to the Creative Director for handing the Roger Smith Art Gallery his resignation. An important battle for intellectual freedom in art was lost by default because the responsibility to fight it fell on the shoulders of Hotel Owners whose god is green.

  • Thank you for taking the time and trouble to comment. I agree that the creative director should have resigned. I'm not sure it was the 'Hotel owners'. It might have been the "gallery owner".

  • Howdy Randy, definitely one of my favorite videos of videoblogging week 2007 so far. Loved the question, "would it have been fine if it was made of white chocolate?" That made me burst out laughing.

Interesting and relevent, I always love interview style videoblog posts.

  • Thanks for the comment and encouragement. I figured out that I actually worked 7 1/2 making this video--time traveling, photographing & then editing. All for 9 min. 25 sec. vlog.

  • Heck knows what Jacuqes Torres would make of this...

  • Fucking ridiculous.

If you don't like the chocolate Jesus, than don't look at it. The fundies can go fuck themselves sideways.

Why does religion get respect like this? It deserves none.

    Chocolate Jesus reborn

Chocolate Jesus is resurrected. "My Sweet Lord," a nude anatomically correct milk chocolate sculpture of Jesus Christ that infuriated Catholics before its April unveiling was canceled, returns Oct. 27 to a Chelsea art gallery, its creator said yesterday. This time, artist Cosimo Cavallaro said he expects no problems.

"there is nothing offensive about this," Cavallaro said of his 6-foot confection.

  • "stupid fuck Christian haters", "idiot", "chicken shit artist". You are obviously a nice person, not like this hater! Of course Chocolate Jesus was made to be shown on Easter time. Would you set a Christmas tree up in july? What is the purpose of art?

  • The guy is from christian culture. So he makes art about what he knows. Chocolate Jesus is allright. And don't tell me it is not art, you call the guy chicken shit artist. What do you know about modern art?

  • Did you have a point to make besides making yourself look uneducated?

  • The Catholic League threatened to boycott the hotel that owns the gallery, so we're talking about the same people. The reason I said the battle was lost by default - artistic freedom was not a consideration once it became a revenue issue. Corporations, by design, have no social conscience. The corporate officers are mandated to act in the interest of their stockholders.
