It is too old to get a replacement and i certainly wont buy another one. In fact i dont think i would buy anything from M-audio again. It's just plastic amature rubbish at a pro price.

Mine has just gone too. Have had it for a couple of years, but the first one we got went after a few hours then got replaced with this one. Thought we were just unlucky with the first one with it just being a faulty one. This one has been fine then BANG, same thing.
We use a Focusrite for recording in the studio now and this one only gets used as an DAC for mixing at home and general PC sound.

I own one of these units and I've had so many problems with it. My power has to be connected now I can't get power via usb anymore, and you'll love this part guys my button doesnt work anymore so I have to tape it on.. luckily I've upgraded to tascam us-1800 but I still use the fast track for pro tools m-powered..its a hunk of junk.

Estou no Brasil aqui nao tem assistencia da M-Audio, preciso do equipamento urgente, nao sei mais o que fazer...

I just bought my Fast Track Ultra less than 3 hours ago.
It is already doing this, tried my condenser mic and BLAM.
What a piece of shit, M-Audio you should be ashamed of yourselves. Don't you test your products before you put them on the market? Did your technicians ever try plugging in a condenser mic to this unit before you made them available to the public???
If anyone has any suggestions on a RELIABLE mobile pre, made by anyone but M-Audio, I am all ears.

I found that the problem is in the power button. I actually kept switching it on and off a bunch of times until it stopped and I never press the button to turn it off.

Hey when you guys got repairs/ replacement how much did it cost you? I have this exact problem and they said to send it in. idk if i can afford it though..

For me it was free - after all the unit was brand new... I may have paid postage though

Mine became defective after a few days from purchase. I got it replaced for free from the dealer. But I'm VERY careful now - only using brand new XLR-cables and always turning off device before switching on/off phantom. As said, I have a feeling it is very sensitive to spikes on the inputs...

@roaldkleiveland Oh dear, looks like it might be a while before I'm producing again. I bought mine in New York but I live in London, I hope they can do something! No reply on the forum yet. And tech support were away earlier today.

@lewisflude Sorry to hear that... Was your faulty from the beginning?
I got an answer from tech support that the device had to be replaced. Apparently this is a known problem, but I'm not sure if they've found the root cause... My feeling is that it is very sensitive on spikes from phantom-power or bad cables
