My mom does a cover of this song on the 6-string and I grew up with that version, never actually hearing this version. I love this song!!!
-
Great CDB song from the 70's. Saw Charlie perform it in 1976.
Awesome guitar work.
I also like Chris's version but Charlie takes with the great guitar work.

RIP TAZ God Bless You

Charlie, I sincerely thank you for the many years of great music and entertainment that you've given us. I hope you do it for many more.

'dya think a person's opinion is all that matters to that person? I can't imagine this song being any better than the original done by the original writer (CD) some thirty + years ago but to each his own. This version is one of my top ten favorite songs of all time and that says alot because I am a huge Elvis fan.

-
Man, that must have hurt.
-
I loved Chris, but this song was pure Charlie Daniels. Final. Period. End of argument! Look it up.
-
its just a story ..duh
-
Point was Charlie wrote it and made it popular.
Chris Ledoux was one hell of a person all the way around no doubt and there was no offense to hi meant.
But he didn't write the song, that's the point.
Settle down I hear the ice cream truck coming up the block.
Let's hop off our high horses and get a popcicle.
-
@crusttyboy True. Charlie can handle a horse, but Chris was a true Rodeo Cowboy, not just a horse rider. George Strait rides and roped in a rodeo, but Chris was a bareback world champion. But Charlie is a damn good songwriter nonetheless. he makes you feel what he's singing.
-
@hwatt1960 Be cool, bro. If you don't know Chris LeDoux, man you sure should. He was the real deal. A REAL cowboy and a great singer and songwriter. He was well liked in the country and southern rock circles. Chris was no spring chicken either. This came out about 77 cause I had the ALBUM when it did. So, get off your high horse and learn something before you shoot off at the mouth.
-
i got his album
-
I used to fall alsleep to this song everynight when I was a kid...

Charlie is a very capable horseman in his own right. I believe he has his own arena where he team ropes. Don't underestimate this big man
