@jeanniem76 no your right...but the church is a gift of God and were to be part of a local church, because it's our family... But to reject and leave a church and speak against it in public because the pastor preached about something we don't understand, when it's clearly written in the bible; is the same as rejecting God's Word "Exodus 20:5, KJV; Deuteronomy 6:15, KJV" hope that helps
Being a Christian has nothing to do with churches or buildings, its a personal relationship and full belief in Jesus Christ. No one can look at another and say whether or not they are a true Christian, we don't know what their relationship with Him is.
Ethan Allen, whose capture of Fort Ticonderoga while commanding the Green Mountain Boys helped inspire Congress and the country to pursue the War of Independence, said, "That Jesus Christ was not God is evidence from his own words." In the same book, Allen noted that he was generally "denominated a Deist, the reality of which I never disputed, being conscious that I am no Christian."
"All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit."
—Thomas Paine, The Age of Reason, 1794 "The question before the human race is, whether the God of nature shall govern the world by his own laws, or whether priests and kings shall rule it by fictitious miracles?"
— Adams, Washington was unitarian as he believed Jesus lived , but was only a man .
@americanreeses96 The founding fathers did NOT believe in Jesus I almost shudder at the thought of alluding to the most fatal example of the abuses of grief which the history of mankind has preserved--the Cross. Consider what calamities that engine of grief has produced! [John Adams, letter to Thomas Jefferson ]Lighthouses are more helpful than churches." @MindofaJedi You're right. I have no without-a-shadow-of-a-doubt-proof that Jesus came to this earth. But I believe. And that is simple enough for me. I can put my trust in whaterever i wish. So did the founding fathers of my country.(not an "if" statement) When Jesus lived, I have proof that what he said I can believe in. As for your last statement, when we are having adult conversation. I would appreciate it if you wouldn't call me miserable. Critizise the idea, not the person. open your mind
@americanreeses96 You absolutely do not "know for a fact " that Jesus lived because there is no evidence . You can assume or suppose Jesus was real . That is literally the best you can do . Lamentations is also a fictional work . The Bible cannot confirm the bible this a paradox . If Jesus did live , questionable ,that doesn't mean anyhting about eternal life . The bible is maybe the most disgusting piece of garbage in human history , all who put faith in it are miserable .
@MindofaJedi I KNOW, for a fact, that Jesus is not a fictional character. He came to this earth lived, and died. But, you are wrong in this, God is new, every day,Lametations 3:22-23 states 22 Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. God is in fact intresting. We, as humans, can't even begin to describe him.. And Jesus did give us something, Eternal Life to those who accept.
@americanreeses96 Jesus was a fictional character in an archiac novel , he gave us nothing . He was a weak retelling of the Gods Horus combined with a few other fables . Nothing new , nothing interesting , and certainly not real .
