Drum machine patched thru a Synthesizers.com modular filter (Q107 State Variable filter) and swept by an envelope triggered from the keyboard. The filter resonance is tuned so that it settles down to the same (relative) pitch as the keyboard patch, after being swept. The keyboard is patched thru 3 oscillators and the Q150 Ladder Filter. The filtered and tuned resonant drums make an interesting effect...

  • Cool vid. I know it doesn't matter since the sound is totally warped, but what drum machine are you using?

  • It's an old Alesis HR-16 that I picked up back in 80s... it was perhaps the earliest affordable digital-sample-based drum machine. But you're right... the sound has been totally warped in the video.

  • Great idea to run the drum machine through the modular. Gonna try it myself. Thanks.

  • Thanks... of course I kind of borrowed the basic idea from Pete Townsend who ran an organ thru his Arp filters to get those cool pulsing chords in "Won't Get Fooled Again" on "Who's Next". The swept-resonant-filter drum patch ended up surprising me though...
