Modified Trans Am start up !!

Description:
-pontiac firebird trans am (1977 gold special)
-403 ci 6.6l oldsmobile engine
This car has been built for drag racing but has not been to the track yet. I will put the times in the description as soon as the car will have done the 1/4 mile.
Engine:
- 950 cfm holley fuel injection system
- "offenhauser" intake manifold (ported)
- "engle" camshaft
- "mondello" rockers
- "mondello" pushrods
- forged high compression "ross" pistons
- forged crankshaft
-"msd" ignition system
-original heads, ported and polished
The list is very long ......
The engine has actually been fitted with oldsmobile type C Big Block heads.I can't take a new video for the moment because the engine has been dismantled again to change the piston rings and to fit a halo girdle to renforce the block. Also, the car now has black and gold snowflake rims.
To come soon:
-5 speed manual transmition
-nitrous
-bigger cam
Power:
The car has not been dinoed yet but should get up to 500 hp when every thing is finished.
This car might sound loud but it's not open headers (because of the cops).

I have a question, are the Mains on the block webbed? Thats what I was told and it was suggested to swap a olds 350 block in place of the 403. I personally love the Feel of the 403's Power.

Yes they are but the bottom end will take 700+ hp with a full girdle

Why, why, why do people like these underpowered late model T/A's. Get hold of a pre 1974 model, you get 3 times more power, a much better looking car - with metal bumpers, and 10 times more fun. This '77 -78 would be hard pushed to make 200 hp. A basic 1970 - 73 V8 will give you 300+, no road tax and mega cheap insurance in the U.K. Sorry just hate the late '70 Firebirds - without a ton of cash they are complete pants.

cool car, what was your track time?

I have a 79 Trans am with a stroked 403 made 570 hp on motor and 540 torque. I have a few vids.. ran at track with a T56 and 3.42 gears on street tires and ran a 8.2 with a 2.02 60 foot. I currently have a 2 .1/4” exhaust now, about to put the same exhaust you have just waiting on mufflers.
