A SPONTANEOUS CREATION
This is a wall on my building on 12th Street and Avenue C in New York City. You can see the logo for my show on the wall, it's been up for about two years. (You can google earth 195 Avenue C at 12th Street in NYC to see the corner itself.)
In the middle is an image we all will recognize. I just finished painting it after three weeks of thinking about doing it. One of my closest friends, Thomas Linder, helped me repaint the wall.
So I am on a high from actually doing something artistic and activistic.
...and the amazing thing is as we are doing it, painting it...
...a kid that I have seen in the neighborhood for years, a teen now, got sucker punched by an older guy right on the corner. And then started kicking the older guys *ss in the middle of the street, all in a matter of 20 seconds.
Someone yelled police and out of nowhere a grey four door sedan comes squealing around the corner and the kid takes off on a full sprint for a half a block and then bangs a right into the "projects" courtyard. BTW the police were smiling as they rolled up, I could see into the car and the driver had quite a gamesmans' smirk on his face.
I'm sure the kid got away, he was fast, strong, slim and was running for his life. And the police got out of their vehicle as fast as they could but they didn't have a chance as they looked a bit out of shape. Undercover officers with pony tails, love handles and steak fed bellies.
The irony and symbolism were intense! New peace sign going up next to old peace sign and a kid i've seen a million times (watched him grow up in the neighborhood) punchin' someone out while a light mist of 3DD aerosol paint drifts in the air and a baby stroller rolls on by...
It was a jaw dropping experience. Enjoy the video, it contains no violence! It does contain an instrumental version of the 3 Dot Dash Song written by IMPACT.
Now this is a movement and a sound I am willing to promote, keep it up guys!
