  • Shareholders gambled their money in a free market system with a profit motive! THEY SHOULD NOT BE COMPENSATED! ! This is a government desperately trying to maintain our confidence in a banking system because thats all we have! WHAT ECONOMY????????????????????

  • Without confidence in the UK banking system, you would not be able to live a normal life for more than a few days.

  • No you dont say! Typical shallow response I would expect! Skip over my main point why dont you! Fact is you should not be compensated as a shareholder! The business went bump and the taxpayer is paying for it!

  • What about the true reasons behind Northern's failure?-I found it quite amusing that while this item was being broadcast,(breaking news) David Cameron expressed the need to be "more transparent.-So come on David you can start here if you dare, tell us the role of the Conservative Party in the "fall" of Northern Rock-bet you wont!
