@sarge6925 No, sorry that is a common misconception about the Amish. Each community has it's own rules, and this one that I was a part of does not shun if you were never a member, or if you leave during a "split" in the church. I was not a member (membership is after you get baptized).

I guess you mean beating kids. I doubt Amish molest their kids much, but they do laugh out loud about sex and show off their daughters' bodies when offering them for marriage. A cute girl at Pulaski county pool wore a bikini AND a little bonnet on her head! I wanted to compliment her, but her pop was the sheriff.

@mrdeleted Well, I suppose that could happen since kids are so cute and since the religion is so efficient at finding out about child molestation but not efficient about punishing it. Cases of rampant child abuse have happened in some areas, but you see that in the nonAmish world too. Usually, what causes rampant child molestation is when it's socially encouraged and not punished. In such cases I would think the blame would fall on the Bishop. Laughing about it to boys and men is an Amish trait.

@1emanres Some may laugh, but that is sort of a stereotype to say that they all do. The problem is that they do not report abuses to authorities when they know about it. They just "shun" the guy an 6 weeks later they are in good standing again, which as you said encourages the guys rather then dis-courage them from rape.

@bucklandb Same here, but I think for those studying my culture my videos are a great way to learn more about the culture. If you think my past has no value to anyone, then STFU, cause it does matter to me, so I could care less what you think.

I do not have my identity just based on one thing, if you really watched my videos, most of them are of my family, but I still post videos about my people, which people love.

I have notice several criticisms of a percieved 'slow speach' Like many people who lived rural, its not that they speak slow but rather that city people have the attention span of a gnat.
