HQ Stereo version: http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=mTtKwXyh4BE&fmt=18

Another time, using "Guitar Rig" to play a Satriani's theme, "Super Colossal" this time. All the solo part is just a silly improvisation, since I wanted to enjoy the tone, not to play the theme note by note, excuse me... I'm a bit lazy! ;)

For this one I've used the "Oktaver" effect, looking for that kind of sound, but the problem is that it only harmonizes 2 octaves down, none octave up. So, it may sound a little bit different... Anyway, I find the result very espectacular! I've used 2 tracks panned full in stereo to play the main riff all the time, so, please... Use the link above to listen the video in a good quality stereo because in mono it's just another thing...

For changing to and from the solo section I've used Cubase automation just using one of the tracks in the center, without the Oktaver and 3db louder (a little too much louder I think) but well...

Gear used: Ibanez JS-100, "Guitar Rig 3", "Sonnox EQ" plugin to shape the guitar sound...

In this test, I've been using also a plugin named "FreeFilter", comparing 2 given tracks and aplying a kind of "result" filter (EQ). In the process, you can use this to efectively model a given tone and make it a little closer to the original one.

At the end of the video, you can view the settings I use to get the sound.

Well, I hope you can enjoy it!!!

Greetings.

  • me gusta tu estilazo besos

  • Ei! Que pasa!!! :)

  • AWESOME!!! If i can play half as good as that by 2020 I will be happy for the rest of my life. You are AMAZING. Keep it going and btw has that Ibanez got standard pickups or have you changed them?

  • Thanks! The pickups are the JS-100 originals.

  • I loved it, how did you learn to play this song?

Your a very good guitarist keep on playing.

  • All by ear... So, surely, many parts would be different from the original. Moreover, I'm using an octaver that gives 1 and 2 octaves down, none up. So, I start playing the theme 1 octave up... And all the solo part is a little poor improvisation. It still sounds pretty good for my taste...

    Anyway, thanks for the comment!!!

  • Forgot one thing. The original solo has that "Hendrix-timing" that Satch does so well, it's hard to replicate.

But your solo is good too.

  • This tone is from Guitar Rig? Great, I will download it now!

  • upload the patch please :)

  • that snare drum sounds like its off of a metallica song from the black album. seriously hard hitting.

  • i play that song but instead of using a joe's Ibanez I use a steve vai jem and i use the digitech whammy.

  • damn nice i can not get the fill in the begaining right
