I empathize with your sentiment about this disc; when my local LP store reopens, I am off to obtain a copy even if I must ask them to order it in. This is one of the most moving works of music available to modern humanity. I hope that some day musicologists hail this album as one of the most important works of the turn of the 21st century. "EOS" has brought tears to my eyes just imagining it with my silent mind. The Poetry, The Music, The Meaning, The Emotion, This is The Art!

I think the reason is that Chamber and this find band Ulver require more appreciation of sheerly musical and expressive properties (to use the language of Aaron Copland), which less people are trained to experience (TV's fault cutting action spans! and ManMadeDrugs and bad parenting). One watches Pink Floyd's "The Wall", Verdi's "Rigoletto", or"CA IRA"by WATERS, and they have drama too. These genres are qualitatively different, however, and cannot be summarized as mean, best, and worst.

Too bad Chamber Music and Ulver (and Black Metal too) don't receive the same level of popular appreciation as Pink Floyd and Opera. Some people have this bizarre kind of back wards reasoning that says "good music is unpopular" AND!? "should be unpopular." I see no harm done by such beautiful music as the above mentioned receiving wide approval. The problem is not well received music but sacrificing integrity to sell cola and jeans and all things capitalist.

You can hear the Chamber influence in this song. Many people in the Classical\art music scene dismiss any thing that has any thing to do with popular music. Jazz has lifted its self up from that state of degradation to a place where it is conventionally accepted as art music; that transition is harder for newer music. Ulver like The Pink Floyd is a band that by its very nature must challenge the conventions of music, blendGenres, andProduceMusicTha
