The Loyola University Chicago Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing broke ground in spring 2011 on a new $26 million building where student nurses will learn alongside medical students from the Stritch School of Medicine. The two-phase project will include study areas, lecture halls, classrooms, administrative offices and an information commons with a library. The Center for Collaborative Learning, which will connect the nursing school to Stritch School of Medicine, will include a clinical simulation area with a six-bed virtual hospital where nursing and medical students will learn together using their clinical skills in a controlled environment.
