Easy to agree that transperancy is needed in mortgage markets, particulairly secondary markets of manufactured products. Bank reserves, too. I wait for some specific rule or regulation that will make borrowing and lending safer for the individual. Did not hear the President mention anything specific.

What Obama means by taxpayers being on the hook is a direct bailout of banks -- a transfer of unearned wealth -- through the Congress. Notice he makes no mention of the ever increasing balance sheet of the Federal Reserve, which this legislation doesn't preclude.

This will not prevent bailouts. The fact that HR1207 (Audit the Fed) was killed shows only that the corruption of the financial and political elites will continue unabated.
