@feardamas So is he overrated ? Maybe becouse of all the nerd fanboys who see God in him. What I see is one of the best written villains of all time with lots of charisma, personality and skill and at the same time with a toned down ego which made him unique. Unlike most other megaloman antagonists.

@feardamas ... than in the game. This came from the authors of the game themselves. So as you see:

A) He did not die. Even after AC his spirit lives on. "I will never be a memory".

B) The plot in the game is twiested as hell. Sephiroth's secrecy and dark personality make him a fascinating villain. I bet you didn't know he was MAKO junky becouse he was exposed to it alot in his SOLDIER days (This also came from the authors) blurring his sence of reality hence his "madness".

@feardamas That being said he was never actually killed. His spirit lives getting more and more powerful by gaining wisdom from the Cetra. Even after he was defeated at the end of the game his remnants lived on in every single Jenova cell out there. That's how Kadaj and the other were created. Also trough those who died on geostigma he slowly injected Jenova cells to the lifestream giving him the power to control the planet itself. In Advent Children he actually came back stronger ...

@Sannya1803 This just proves how multi-threaded the storyline of this game is. If you don't pay attention you'll get it wrong. Let me sort of things for you. Sephiroth's body died by being thrown into the lifestream (in Last Order he actually jumps in by himself) but his will lived on allowing him to gain the knowledge of the ancients. He then reincarnated himself by rebuilding his body in the Northen Crater and in the meantime used Jenova as replacment for his body ...

sephiroth lost not because he just let him do it, he loved cloud and never went full power. (it's a joke to those who take this answer seriously!)
