This was Oscar Grant Plaza at 10:00am on the day of the Oakland General Strike on Nov. 2nd 2011. After "I Will Survive - CAPITALISM", the crowd marched on the banks. In many ways, this was the culmination of my years of political activism, and look at my co-revolutionaries! We can't fail.

  • Evil has its roots in a fertile soil. The fertilizer of a evil capitalist society is the accumulation of 2% of national wealth in private property, financial power, conspicuous consumption, exploitation of labor resources, outsourcing of services, free trade, corrupt financiers, and representatives bought and paid for by these interests. Greed is only a small manifestation of that anti-human, undemocratic, repugnant, mendacious system.

  • These people are so over electoral politics. Thanks for the inspiration! Y'all are beautiful on the west coast. Headed to Augusta to sing this in front of Bank of America while people withdraw their money.

  • Lyrics Transcription (Part 3, then repeat Parts 2 and 3):

It took all the strength you had to tear us apart

We fought each other with the pieces of our broken hearts

We're the 99 percent. United in dissent. We used to cry.

But now we hold our heads up high

And you see us. We're feeling new.

We're not that chained up little shopper still in love with you.

Got us working to the bone but today we're breaking free

Now we're saving all our loving...for our community!

  • Lyrics Transcription (Part 2):

Go on, now go! Walk out the door!

Just turn around now, 'cause you're not welcome anymore

Weren't you the one percent who hurt me with your lies

Did (you think) I('d) crumble? Did (you think) I ('d) lay down and die?

Oh no, not I. I will survive.

For as long as I know how to love, I know I'll stay alive

I've got all my life to live , I've got all my love to give

I will survive. I will survive.

  • I transcribed the the lyrics (Part 1): At first I was afraid I was petrified Thinking I could never live without dollars by my side But then I spent so many nights thinking how you did us wrong I grew strong I learned how to take action 'Cause we got jacked! In your rat race! You rigged the game to profiteer off climate change and toxic waste You gambled lives to push your stocks and so we're leaving finally We're composting capitalism together collectively!
  • We are finally learning to use the power we have! Power to the 99%!!!

  • amazing song! Can we have the lyrics poster here? keep going!

  • Shiny happy people...my heart is with you!!

  • You are beautiful

  • Fabulous! We are the 99 percent
