for every small track that the mini wins there is one where the GTI also wins. also remember this is limiting it to only the mkv (the mkvi performs even better), i never argued handling where the mini wins, explaining the minis wins on short tracks and the GTIs wins on longer tracks due to more power. but bang for your buck VW wins

I hate people saying Mini is expensive for what it really is. Well...an GTI isn't much cheaper. More power...perhaps, but the MK5 was one of the worst GTI versions in history, like the mk4!! (I guess mikethebeast1012 drives a Polo TDI! LOL) The MK6 is a really great car. I tried one. But I wouldn't change it for my Cooper S R56. Got little less Power....but soooo much more fun!!! MINI is an art of life. Not just a car!!

P.S.: If you don't like small and unuseful cars...get a Voyager!!!

I've got an '05 R53 Mini S (Supercharged model). It may not be faster than some of the VW's around where I live, but I love not seeing Minis every 2 feet. I used to have a Jetta, but I can't stomach seeing anymore Vdubs around, WAY too many!

@mikethebeast1012 i have a stock 2008 r56 mini cooper s as well. When i clocked the 0-60 on the dyno at my shop, i got between 6.4 and 6.8 every time. I tested it 10 different times. Also take into consideration the Sport mode button, it re-maps the acceleration and gives you a little bit more. I think both cars are great cars, however, i race on tight road courses, so my preference leans towards the Mini.
