@Chadeo242 The spikes are pointy but only hurt when they are scared. When they are happy and feel safe their quills are down. You can't cut the quills.

@mamaluigi1999 It's part of how they roll into balls; hedgehogs have a muscle that folds the skin over the forehead so that their spikes protect the face. Same goes for the tail area, which can be pulled up over the feet when a hedgehog needs to curl up.
If he does it when he isn't being threatened, he probably just felt like a stretch. Covering his eyes is all the same to him, since hedgies are nearly blind in daylight.

@brittanylynn227 No shampoo or anything because it's not good for them if they eat it. There is special shampoo available for use with small pets. I would ask a vet or someone knowledgeable about it though. DO NOT use any old regular soap/shampoo when bathing your hedige :)
